(not) your concern

"The first day of the war was filled with fear and anxiety. I kept my eyes on the window to see if the enemy was coming. Hiding in the bathtub, the waiting for a rocket hit was killing me more than the news. I was afraid that it would hit my house, I imagined how painfully I would die, and I was even more afraid of the darkness, beyond which was the complete unknown.", says Asaki.

The artist transformed her experience into an exhibition, within which she created a large-scale performative installation. The new monumental work, made of toys in the form of rockets, resembles a lullaby and also shows the duality of conditional security and fear of death. The rockets are placed over a bathtub, recreating everyday Ukrainian realities. Ukrainians are forced to hide in bomb shelters, bathtubs, and corridors with narrow walls during air raids and attacks by russian occupiers. The sounds of sirens and explosions recorded by Ukrainians help Asaki to complement this idea. You will also be able to hear real stories of civilians and soldiers.

The exhibition (not) your concern presents newly created works by the Ukrainian artist Asaki and includes performance, sculpture, paintings and sound materials. As part of this project, W*rkspace presents a dynamic programme of lectures and events that will take place in the space throughout the exhibition. This is the first solo exhibition in Western Europe by Aliia Sakisheva (Asaki), presented by byW*rkspace.
