The painting "As in, as out" illustrates the paradoxical irony of the contemporary world, wherein religions and technological advances are on the invisible war-path. The artwork's key figure is the Yggdrasil, the world tree in Scandinavian mythology, in the form of which the Scandinavians envisioned the universe. On either side of the Yggdrasil, I depicted a symbolic past and future, religions and technological advances. On the left side of Yggdrasil, we see an ear that refers to wiretaps in the Soviet Union. It is the intended phrase "walls have ears". Symmetrically on the other side, the hand refers to enlightenment. Human beings are portrayed as an old scuba diver's suit and a modern astronaut's one. Thereby times relate to research interests. The raven is striving skyward, where is hidden the key to harmony of univrse.
